At Fixright Scaffolding in Milton Keynes, North London, we know how important it is to help out others. We like to participate in a variety of charity work, as we believe it's important to try and make a difference in other people's lives who need it.
As well as making a monthly donation to the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) staff members are keen to take part in fundraising events.
Shine is an amazing charity who supports families and individuals suffering from spina bifida and hydrocephalus. To raise money for their charity, there are monthly virtual balloon races, where you can get a balloon, decorate and track it and see where it ends up in the world, all whilst helping raise money for a great charity.
We recently participated in a balloon race and you can to, just visit their website.
One of our long term employees, Steve Hoy was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer.
He had a long and difficult time with surgery and chemotherapy but gladly he is now is remission, and is proudly showing off a thick beard that attracts a lot of attention.
As well as his treatment, Steve had long days of recovery which resulted in severe boredom. Going against medical advice he continued to work on days that he was able.
To help raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, Steve agreed to die his beard two colours, for the donations of £100.
Amazingly, Fixright Scaffolding managed to raise a total of £438.64, and another £90 has been raised by his friends and family.
